1. Reporting infringement
If you believe that material available through Taught — including a Teacher's recording — infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated copyright agent that includes:
- your physical or electronic signature (or that of someone authorized to act for the copyright owner);
- identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed (or a representative list, if there are several);
- identification of the material you claim is infringing, with enough information for us to locate it;
- your name, mailing address, telephone number and email address;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law; and
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
Designated agent:
Copyright Agent
Gunning Industries Corp (d/b/a Taught)
5851 Via Loma, Riverside, CA 92506
Phone: (949) 414-5047
Email: copyright@taught.life
Our designated agent is registered with the U.S. Copyright Office's DMCA Designated Agent Directory (registration number DMCA-1081013).
2. What we do
When we receive a valid notice, we will promptly remove or disable access to the material, withdraw it from future licensing, and notify the Teacher who submitted it. Where an allegedly infringing recording has already been licensed, we will notify the affected customers under our agreements with them.
3. Counter-notices
If your recording was removed and you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to our copyright agent that includes:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before removal;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification;
- your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district where your address is located (or, if outside the United States, any judicial district in which Taught may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice or their agent.
We will forward your counter-notice to the person who filed the original notice. Unless they tell us within 10 business days that they have filed an action seeking a court order, we will restore the material within 10 to 14 business days after receiving your counter-notice.
4. Repeat infringers
We will, in appropriate circumstances, suspend or terminate the accounts of Teachers who repeatedly infringe others' copyrights, and we may do so after fewer notices where infringement is clear or deliberate.
5. Misrepresentations
Anyone who knowingly makes a material misrepresentation in a notice or counter-notice may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees, under 17 U.S.C. §512(f). If you are unsure whether material infringes your rights, consider consulting a lawyer before sending a notice.
6. Other concerns
For privacy concerns about a recording — for example, if you appear in one without consent — email privacy@taught.life. This policy is part of our Terms of Service.
