How earning works
Get paid to record everyday tasks for AI.
Taught pays you to film things you already do — loading a dishwasher, folding laundry, restocking a shelf — from your point of view, with your phone. Robotics companies use these recordings to teach robots how people actually handle the physical world.
Straight answer first: this is not a job and not a paycheck. Base rewards are small, royalties depend on whether your recordings are licensed, and nothing is guaranteed. There are no shifts, no hourly quota and no fees to join.
How it works
- Pick a Lesson. Each one is a real task with clear requirements: what to show, how long, and which mount, if any.
- Record it on your phone. Many Lessons are handheld; some need an inexpensive head or chest mount.
- Submit. A quick automated check confirms the basics, like minimum length, then a person reviews it against the Lesson's requirements.
- Get rewarded. Accepted Lessons earn a base award in Gold straight away. Eligible Lessons can keep earning royalties when they're licensed.
What you earn
- Base awardA set amount of Gold for each accepted Lesson, shown before you record.
- RoyaltiesA 40–70% share of licensing revenue on eligible Lessons, paid in Gold once the buyer's payment settles.
- Gift cardsRedeem Gold for gift cards, starting at $5. Brands and availability vary.
- Exclusive LessonsSome buyer-funded Lessons pay a guaranteed one-time award instead of royalties. They're labeled before you record.
Royalties depend on licensing activity and are not guaranteed. Shares reflect the current compensation configuration and may change.
Why royalties?
Most data work pays once for your time. A useful recording can be licensed to more than one robotics company, so Taught shares licensing revenue with the Teacher who recorded it, for as long as eligible recordings keep being licensed. Your share grows with your Teacher Level, from 40% at Level 1 to 70% at Level 5, based on the quality of your work — never on raw volume.
Who can take part
Adults 18 and older in the United States. Taught is opening in early access first. Requesting early access puts you on the list — it doesn't create an account or commit you to anything.
What you keep
You own your original footage. Recordings are licensed to qualified robotics and AI companies under Taught's terms and may help train Taught's own AI models, you can see every licensing event of your work, and the app only captures video and motion data while you're recording a Lesson.
